Pelin explores the boundaries of perception and imagination through her paintings. Moving beyond realist representation, she uses light, shadow, colour and clay to reimagine identity in fluid and ever-changing forms. She is fascinated by the possibility of creating alternative worlds in which the rules of reality can shift and anything becomes possible.
Driven by a desire to express emotion through the perspective of either an adult or a child, beyond fixed notions of time and gender, Pelin draws inspiration from the poetic relationships between the visible and invisible elements of the universe and from the extraordinary balance of nature.
By inviting viewers into her strange and surreal universe, she hopes to encourage them to look beyond the familiar and reconnect with their own imagination and creativity.
“I have no desire to define the truth, reach a conclusion or impart life lessons. My only commitment is to surrender to the primal whispers of my inner muse.”
